Staying Active at Essence

November 3, 2021 | Essence Management

While living in the beautiful Essence apartments in the heart of Woodland Hills, you have easy access to the best of fast-paced Los Angeles life. Staying fit at Essence is easy, with both on-site and off-site options for working up a sweat.

Here’s a quick guide to staying fit while living in one of the most gorgeous parts of the San Fernando Valley.

Go Exploring

If your idea of a good workout involves the great outdoors, Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve is an excellent option. Only 5 miles from the apartments at Essence and easily accessible via Vanowen Street, this enormous 2,650-acre public park is chock-full of beautiful hills, breathtaking vistas, and an extensive trail system well-suited to both hiking and bike riding.

Just out for a refreshing stroll with friends? Try the Mary Wiesbrock Loop Trail, a 3.6-mile path that’s not too challenging and allows you to get some steps in while admiring the area’s flora and fauna. Looking for a serious test? Tackle the Victory Trailhead Loop, a 5.1-mile trail that puts you on some sharp ascents and descents.

Woodland Hills’ Corbin Canyon Park is an ideal choice for stretching your legs. Located about 5 miles south of Essence, this 328-acre park features 76 miles of trails within the Los Angeles city limits.

Both of these public spaces are dog-friendly, so bring your (leashed) faithful pup along for a bit of exercise.

Get Fit On-Site

Want to get in a workout without leaving home? Essence has you covered with a well-appointed fitness center. The center includes kettlebells, bumper plates, and Olympic free weights for those who enjoy pumping iron. There’s also a Smith machine and a leg press for working the lower body.

If low-impact exercise and muscle toning are more your things, Essence has a yoga room right on the grounds. Featuring a mirror and ballet bar, this tranquil space is excellent for both body and mind. Or, work on your cardio by taking some laps in the resort-style pool. Then rest and recharge your sore muscles in the outdoor hot tub.
